Sequins

Papertrey Blog Hop this time around features sequins.  I played along by making an anniversary card for my parents.  This June will be the big 50!!

I wanted the card to be elegant and to incorporate gold.   I kept playing around and couldn't make the sequins work.  Then I went to Pinterest and found this sketch I had pinned from Paper Crafts Mag.

I like how the gold embossing looks next to the sequins.  The black and white seemed classic for this card but then I started to have doubts so I made another one with a red card base.

The punch of red seems more sassy but I like it.  I'm just not sure which one I like best.

Since I can't decide,  I am asking for your help.  Which one would you give for a 50th Anniversary?

Two Toned Stamped Flowers

Hello.  I'm here with a Make It Monday card.  Today's caught my eye because I have been stamping two toned peacock feathers lately :)

I followed Melissa's technique when I colored the flowers from Beautiful Blooms II.  I used SU cubes in Lovely Lilac and Orchid Opulence.

The two step SU Wild Rose set was used for the leaves (Amuse grass & moss) and rose buds (Amuse wheat & ocean)  The tall wispy flower is from PTI Life (SU lovely lilac & Amuse heather).  The sentiment is from PTI Damask Designs (Versafine black).

And hiding in the back is that versatile peacock feather.  That makes three very different cards using the same stamp.  I sure am getting my money out of it.  You can see the other cards here & here.

I also wanted to share with you my technique for achieving the multi colored feather.

First I stamped it in Amuse grass.  Then I used a sponge to add color in layers starting with SU really rust and Amuse ocean for the center.

I love the soft blended look.  I can see doing this with quite a few stamps in my collection.

Monograms

Good Morning.  Today I am participating in the PaperTrey Ink Blog Hop which is all about Monograms.  I chose to make an anniversary card for a friend to give to his wife.

I decided to give the card some elegance by embossing the background with sparkle embossing powder in a damask print.  I used 1/8 scor-tape to add glitter to the top and bottom.

I added the pink mulberry spring roll  paper cinched in the middle to look like a bow.  I think the card ending up being reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe.

This next picture is of the inside but the colors turned out horrible in the editing.  The card base is a light grey that I stamped with A.muse Seattle ink on the large damask.  The sentiments are Versafine black.  The bottom is a piece of card stock that matched the mulberry paper cut with  PTI edger die 1.  I decided to  covered it with more glitter because glitter is the gift that keeps on giving - LOL.

I am happy with how this turned out.  I struggled a bit with the monogram theme.  I think it is easier to monogram a piece of decor rather than a card.

Finding the bling letter is what really turned this one around.  Once I saw it my head started running with ideas.  And to think it was only $.35!  I really should go back and get more.  These would make pretty wedding cards.  Oh and sweet birthday party invites for my not so little girl...I see a diamonds are a girls best friend theme in the future!!

Anniversary Fun

This weekend started the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Celebration.  The contest was to use one the designers favorite projects as inspiration.  I decided to channel a little Mish.

This card made me push out of my comfort zone.  I have lace, patterned paper, and buttons galore but don't gravitate to them so I decided to use some of my stockpile.  The lace was white so I antiqued it with the Tea Dye Duo's.  I was surprised how well it worked.
