Beyond the Clouds

Hi there. Hope everyone had a crafty weekend!! Just popping in to share a card I made for PTI's MIM 108. Heather Nichols challenged us to make inked backgrounds.

I embossed the sentiment with ultra fine silver embossing powder. I wasn't able to get a very good picture of it. Then I inked the rainbow background with my Ranger tool.

To finish it off, I die cut the clouds and inked the edges. I added pop dots to the small upper cloud for some dimension. This was a fun way to make a rainbow. The colors blend so effortlessly.

CAS-ual Friday CFC92

I love to stamp my own backgrounds so this CAS-ual Fridays challenge was right up my alley. But hmm, what stamp to use...

Sometimes I find a stamp I like but I only use it in one style of card. I only see it as Shabby Chic, Elegant, or Country. I have been trying to force my self to make the products I own more versatile.

That being said, I decided to use the Stampendous peacock feather I used to make Mother's Day cards for another challenge. Those cards were elegant and sparkly. This card is rustic in design.

My favorite part is the cork Hello. It was cut using a PTI die from their new self adhesive cork sheets. I love this stuff! I cuts like butter and adds so much texture.

April Blog Hop

When I saw this photo, I thought the colors and patterns would be perfect for Mother's Day cards.

The background is Damask Designs that I embossed with a clear sparkle embossing powder. The Roses are a retired SU set that I love. It is all two step stamping which is perfect for adding depth when you aren't very good at coloring!

The polka dot "ribbon" is actually a seam binding that I created. First, I used my Tap-n-Rol tool to add some of the teal color and then I stamped the polka dot pattern. The best part is I got the whole roll below for .99 cents at the junk (oops, I mean hidden treasure) store!

The next card is also for Mother's Day, just not for my mom.

I used painters tape to mask the sentiment location. After removing it, I scored the edge of the mask line.

This card was quick to make and I love the way it turned out.

Well, now I am off to put my feet up and do some blog hopping!

One-Layer Wednesday

So, I saw a One-Layer Wednesday (OWL) circle challenge and thought I would give it a try. I always admire clean and simple cards but never have an mojo when I try to make them. It seems like it should be easy with only one layer but man is it hard!

After a few mishaps, this was the final product. I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and played along.

PTI Anniversary Day 5

Today is day 5 of the over the top Papertrey Ink Anniversary celebration! They have unveiled a new enabling feature which is a PTI Pinterest Inspiration Board. How great is that! I love that you can go to one place and find all the design team uploads. All I want to know is when am I ever going to get the laundry caught up!!

For the contest today, participants are to find some Pinterest inspiration for a card. I chose a collage and used the color scheme.

Aside from the navy card base, all the other card stock started out white. I used Rangers Ink applicator to add the SU Night of Navy and PTI Summer Sunrise. The sentiment came form last years PTI anniversary set Round & Round.
