Easter Bags and DIY Washi tape

HAPPY EASTER!

Thought I would pop in with some holiday bags I made in place of baskets.  I was inspired by CAS-ual Fridays Funny Bunny Challenge.  First up is the bunny face bag.

Where do I begin with this one?!!  First I added the stripe paper at the top.  The bow tie was cut with a Cricut cartridge. The flower is a cricut/ papertrey ink die mesh.  The ears were free hand cut then sponged with color.

I kept it simple on the back with the stripe paper and a cotton ball tail.

For the next bag I went with a view from behind and a fun tag.

I free handed the shapes and sponged them with some Amuse Slate to help it pop off the bag.  This tail is bigger and I added some color to it.  I also added a bit of pink to the bent ear.  It was a hit with my niece.

Above are some of the Easter nuggets I made.  I covered them with clear/frosted labels and washi tape.  I had the blue green stripe and green polka dot but wanted some pink to pull it all together.  Since I didn't have any I decided to make some.  Below is a picture tutorial on how ...

Sequins

Papertrey Blog Hop this time around features sequins.  I played along by making an anniversary card for my parents.  This June will be the big 50!!

I wanted the card to be elegant and to incorporate gold.   I kept playing around and couldn't make the sequins work.  Then I went to Pinterest and found this sketch I had pinned from Paper Crafts Mag.

I like how the gold embossing looks next to the sequins.  The black and white seemed classic for this card but then I started to have doubts so I made another one with a red card base.

The punch of red seems more sassy but I like it.  I'm just not sure which one I like best.

Since I can't decide,  I am asking for your help.  Which one would you give for a 50th Anniversary?

Two Toned Stamped Flowers

Hello.  I'm here with a Make It Monday card.  Today's caught my eye because I have been stamping two toned peacock feathers lately :)

I followed Melissa's technique when I colored the flowers from Beautiful Blooms II.  I used SU cubes in Lovely Lilac and Orchid Opulence.

The two step SU Wild Rose set was used for the leaves (Amuse grass & moss) and rose buds (Amuse wheat & ocean)  The tall wispy flower is from PTI Life (SU lovely lilac & Amuse heather).  The sentiment is from PTI Damask Designs (Versafine black).

And hiding in the back is that versatile peacock feather.  That makes three very different cards using the same stamp.  I sure am getting my money out of it.  You can see the other cards here & here.

I also wanted to share with you my technique for achieving the multi colored feather.

First I stamped it in Amuse grass.  Then I used a sponge to add color in layers starting with SU really rust and Amuse ocean for the center.

I love the soft blended look.  I can see doing this with quite a few stamps in my collection.

Beyond the Clouds

Hi there.  Hope everyone had a crafty weekend!!  Just popping in to share a card I made for PTI's MIM 108.   Heather Nichols challenged us to make inked backgrounds.

I embossed the sentiment with ultra fine silver embossing powder.  I wasn't able to get a very good picture of it.  Then I inked the rainbow background with my Ranger tool.

To finish it off, I die cut the clouds and inked the edges.  I added pop dots to the small upper cloud for some dimension.  This was a fun way to make a rainbow.  The colors blend so effortlessly.

Bereavement Gift

This last week has been a long one.  I had a friend that lost her 44 year old husband unexpectedly.  His passing was quite a shock to everyone.  I wanted to do something for her so I started thinking about what I could take over to the house.

I was surfing the web looking for recipes but nothing caught my eye.  Then I stumbled upon a forum where  people talked about items delivered during their time of need.  Things like bottled water, disposable plates, cups, and paper products. All the stuff you run out of quickly when your house is full of visitors.  I thought this was a great idea.

I decided to make up a gift bag with 4 or 5 boxes of Kleenex, an 8 pack of pocket Kleenex, and a set of Thank You cards.  I figured the tissues won't spoil and she will have lots of Thank You's to send.

Here is a picture of the three designs I came up with.  Now, I know these are a bit colorful for the occasion but he was a colorful guy.  The obituary said to be casual and wear your brightest colors in his honor so I thought these would be a good fit.

The stripe paper is from Jillibean Watermelon Gazpacho Soup Sprig of Mint.  Whew that was a mouthful!! The sentiment is from PTI Think Big #4.

The heart on this card is punched from a piece of  PTI cork sheet.  I used a copper nail head in the center for a little something extra.  The sentiment is from PTI Botanical Silhouettes.

For this heart I chose to punch two small holes and wrap then with button twine.   This sentiment was from PTI Round and Round.

CAS-ual Friday CFC92

I love to stamp my own backgrounds so this CAS-ual Fridays challenge was right up my alley.  But hmm, what stamp to use...

Sometimes I find a stamp I like but I only use it in one style of card.  I only see it as Shabby Chic, Elegant, or Country.  I have been trying to force my self to make the products I own more versatile.

That being said,  I decided to use the Stampendous peacock feather I used to make Mother's Day cards for another challenge.  Those cards were elegant and sparkly.  This card is rustic in design.

My favorite part is the cork Hello.  It was cut using a PTI die from their new self adhesive cork sheets.  I love this stuff!  I cuts like butter and adds so much texture.

Make It Monday 105

This weeks MIM #105 is all about making your own glitter trim.  I decided to make  Mother's Day cards.

I started with a card base of Bazzill Blue Calyspso.  The peacock feather is from Stampendous and is stamped with SU Taken With Teal and AMuse Grass.

The Mother sentiment comes from PTI Mother Stamp Set and is stamped with Versafine black.

The bottom trim piece is a Fiskars punch that I ran through the Xyron and sprinkled with SU Dazzling Diamonds.  When I was finished I had second thoughts about the black so I made another.

This time I used AMuse French Roast for the sentiment.

I chose a glitter color named New Penny.  I thought I would like it better than the first card but I'm not sure.  I like the sentiment but I think the glitter is a bit heavy.
